Our curriculum is purposely designed to accurately meet the needs of the learning objectives in each academic area, level-by-level. It is broad-based and a good blend of the Nigerian and American/British curricular. Supplementaries such as creative, standard-based ideas and activities are also included to re-enforce and enhance the curriculum.
Greater emphasis is placed on some core areas/programmes such as:
- ♦ Reading Program
- ♦ Language Program
- ♦ Mathematics
- ♦ Social Studies
- ♦ Science
- ♦ Art & Music
This programme commences after mainstream lessons end (Mondays through Thursdays),
continuing in the direction toward uniformity of instruction. It begins at 2:00pm after lunch and
nap time and ends by 4:00pm. During this period, pupils do daily assignments and those who perform below the
minimum acceptable level of proficiency, especially in the area of Cursive Writing, Reading, Continuous Writing,
Grammar, Phonology and Mathematics receive supplementary remedial assistance.
This programme closes daily with library activities and appropriate in-door as well as out-door game activities.
This is an activity-based programme which comes up twice every month in the school year. Previously, it had a limited focus on gardening, knitting, cooking, art and craft work, music and exercises. Gradually it has been enlarged to be more comprehensive and to include ballet, swimming and modified sports and other appropriate activities with particular emphasis on the specialized skills involved in each of the activities. This programme is open to all pupils of the school as well as non-school pupils who reside in the immediate vicinity of the school.
